ADA University organizes second meeting of COP29 Scientific Council Board

ADA University, in collaboration with the COP29 Presidency, successfully organized the second meeting of the COP29 Scientific Council Board on August 15, 2024. The meeting brought together Board Members to further advance the Council's strategic objectives and preparations for COP29.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Elnur Soltanov, Chief Executive Officer of COP29 and Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Dr. Fariz Ismailzade, Vice Rector of ADA University, moderated the session in his role as the Executive Secretary of the Scientific Council. The Board Members actively engaged in discussions, offering valuable insights for the upcoming events scheduled over the next months.

Key topics of discussion included a proposal to hold the next hybrid Board Meeting in Baku in September 2024 and the potential for an in-person conference during the Pre-COP on October 10-11, 2024.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the agreement to issue a scientific communiqué at COP29 parties and constituencies, a proposal put forward by Mr. Soltanov, Chief Executive Officer of COP29. The Board also agreed on tangible deliverables during and after COP29, emphasizing the importance of sustaining joint research and scientific activities beyond the event. This ensures a lasting legacy, particularly within the framework of the Troika.

The COP29 Scientific Council Board remains dedicated to fostering collaboration and innovation in addressing global climate challenges, with a strong focus on integrating scientific research into policy development.
