Organized by ADA University with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in partnership with Baku Education Information Center, STI Travel, and BESTCOMP GROUP, the first round of the 7th English Language Olympiad for Academic Purposes has been successfully conducted.
A total of 1,674 students from 8th and 9th grades participated in the first stage of the competition. Among them, 1,314 took the test at ADA University’s Baku campus, 200 at the Mir Jalal Pashayev School No. 39 in Ganja, 105 at the Heydar Aliyev School in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and 55 at ADA’s Gazakh Center.
During the Olympiad, students had 80 minutes to answer 50 written questions focusing on English grammar and reading comprehension skills.
As part of the event, an information session was also organized for parents in Baku, where they received detailed information about education at ADA Primary and Secondary School.
Students who achieve high scores in the first round will advance to the second round — the listening and writing stage — which will be held on April 19 at ADA University. Those who excel in the second round will then be invited to the final round to demonstrate their speaking skills.
The first-place winner will be awarded the opportunity to participate in the Global Young Leaders program in the United Kingdom, supported by Baku Education Information Center and STI Travel OJSC.
Winners of the second and third places will receive prizes such as laptops and tablets, sponsored by BESTCOMP GROUP. Additionally, certificates will be awarded to the top 300 high-achieving participants.
It should be noted that the goal of the Olympiad is to assess students’ English language proficiency for academic purposes and to encourage them to further develop these skills.
